A fellow blogger Miguel Solorzano recently posted images of New Orleans, including the French Quarter, and that inspired me to round up my SquareS of French Quarter doorways I took in April 2006.  Now you may remember this was only months after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, but the French Quarter was mostly unscathed by the flooding.

I find doorways and windows to be fascinating vignettes of a house.  Like human faces, they have a character all their own.  Few places have so many charming doorways in a particular neighborhood than does the French Quarter.  The colors are especially inviting and cheerful.

Enjoy!

Love these doors! They’re just so unique and vibrant. The faded and weather-beaten ones really tell a powerful story when you look at in a post-Katrina perspective. Good job!
