    That Phainopepla has got to be my newest favorite bird. Besides being an odd-looking but very attractive bird, it also has quite a vocabulary!

      If you see a lot of mesquite mistletoe, there are likely to be phainopeplas. I’ve even seen them at the Victorville golf course because of the mistletoe in the decidious and oak trees.
