I’ve always wanted to visit the San Juan Capistrano Mission because of the tradition of swallows returning on St. Joseph’s Day, March 19.  The swallows have been missing for  years, but there are attempts to lure them back.  However, it is one of the most beautiful missions in California, with ruins of the original buildings, and a gorgeous basilica adjacent to the old buildings.

Father Junipero Serra who founded the mission and many others will be canonized by Pope Francis in September.

A great visit Cindy. I went there once many moons ago, before the digital age. A faded memory, so these captures help me to remember how beautiful it is.
