The Most Stunning View Ever!

Hollister Peak at sunset is viewed from a remarkable pullout on California’s State Route 46 between Paso Robles and U. S. Highway 1 (the Pacific Coast Highway).

From the same vantage point is Morro Rock. Both are part of the Seven Sisters (some say it’s Nine Sisters) – remnants of ancient volcanoes in San Luis Obispo County.

You can see the three stacks of the defunct power plant in Morro Bay. It would be nice if they could be imploded in the same way the aluminum smelter was in the Ruston neighborhood of Tacoma, Washington around 25 years ago. (That was cool  – we watched it blow up.)

This is Morro Rock from a smaller viewpoint a short ways west.

We had a bit of rain a couple of weeks ago, and some of the hillsides are turning green. With a proper rainy season, the hills will be as emerald green as those in Ireland.

This view is at dawn the previous day.

A little past dawn.

To me, these views make it the premiere viewpoint of the Central Coast. To think I only live 30 minutes away, too!
