Crested caracara

My birding friend Marilyn and I knew that the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park  was a great place for bird photography from a visit a few years earlier. We were determined to return when I was able to extend a business trip to take advantage of a 3-day holiday.

Crested caracara

We had seen a wild caracara at the Viera Wetlands, but this was a chance to get close enough in a natural enough setting for some good closeups.

Great horned owl

I had a sharper, better focusing lens this time, and I wanted to focus on super closeups.

Black-and-white warbler

There were also some wild birds, such as this migrating black-and-white warbler, that vied for my attention.

I think we were there three hours, and then we had to leave. Enjoy the following images!

I wish you’d quit putting those damned copyright impressions onto your pics; they’d be perfect without that clutter and so much easier to steal!!!

Haha Ron you can steal any ones you want.

Fantastic photos, Cindy. Thanks so much for taking us with you to Homosassa Park. So rare we get a chance to see these birds up close, especially the caracara and GHO.
