About

Cindy McIntyre
I am a professional photographer and writer who made a living as a self-employed freelancer and artist until the Great Recession. Nobody was more surprised than me that I was hired to work as a National Park Service ranger – Smokey Bear hat and all. I didn’t need a degree in wildlife biology to collect fees, so that’s what I did for two winters in Big Bend National Park, Texas. I loved it so much I figured I had found my new gypsy life. I worked in Mesa Verde, Martin Luther King, Jr National Historic Site, and Dinosaur National Monument, as well as at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge, moving up as an interpretive park ranger giving programs and providing information at visitor centers. I am currently working in an undisclosed location (ha ha) in Southern California, where I can use my writing and photography skills.
